In December and February he was an active participant i Tevziu Hoxha: Even though I never lived those terrible years and I didn’t suffer the misery that those poor people did, I now know the reason why this country of full potential, never developed properly.

Hoxha appeared from nowhere – a political unknown of humble background; in fact, he was not politically active until about when he became leader by default – a compromise candidate. It would have been wiser to present the facts as illustrations for particular general arguments. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
Only once the regime collapsed in could his real story be told without fear. It is interesting how we have better histories of North Korea than we do fdvziu Albania.
In addition to the main text, the book includes a chronology of the life of Hoxha, a glossary of key figures, a section of notes, a bibliography and an index.

He is described as ‘manouver[ing] skillfully among the various communist leaders, gain[ing] their trust’ before eventually dispatching them often with a bullet in the style of his mentor Stalin. He shared blendu traits with the Soviet dictator.
This interpretation may seem exaggerated for an ordinary politician, but Hoxha indeed rose to absolute power, and the system created by him survived beyond the end of his life for some years. His eighty publications included thirteen volumes of memoirs. Whilst some of the names are unfamiliar to many readers the corruption and abuse of power will be familiar to any students of communist history. It was disappointing to learn of underhand Fevzziu interference and finances helping the Communist regime to establish itself as the war ended is there anywhere we haven’t helped to destroy?

This book, although very factual, is beautifully written, and reads like a gripping novel. The regime that the Albanian dictator Enver Hosha led from until his death in was incomparably severe.
